PTSD — The Next Challenge for Staffing

An appellate court ruled recently that an employee who witnesses a traumatic event at work can file a workers’ comp claim claiming post-traumatic stress disorder. In this case, the court ruled that a firefighter suffered a psychological injury because of a sudden “traumatic event” after the death of a fellow fire fighter. He therefore qualified for workers’ compensation.
